
Jen Allen Online Presentation: The Artful Darter
Jen Allen, nationally known studio potter and teacher, is recognized for her altered forms and beautifully embellished surfaces. Honored as an Emerging Artist by NCECA in 2008, Jen’s work has been featured in many books and publications, and she has been awarded numerous residencies throughout the US.
Jen lives in Morgantown, WV, with her husband Shoji Satake, and their two children. She teaches ceramics at West Virginia University, and offers workshops around the country.
In her presentation for Montgomery Potters, Jen will demonstrate her method of hand-building forms by adapting the seamstress’s techniques of cutting, darting and folding to create her graceful and playful functional pottery.
