As I wind down my thirty-plus year career as a pediatric nurse, I am so excited to have the opportunity to really focus on ceramics. Creative endeavors including painting with water colors, acrylics, pastels and oils, as well as gardening have always been my pastime. But since discovering clay about six years ago I have been hooked! I have taken classes at Montgomery College and Glen Echo but since my husband converted our backyard shed into my little studio (just before the Covid-shut down happened!), I have been discovering ceramic techniques on my own. I love hand building vessels, figurative sculpture and illustrative painting on porcelain. My pieces are very obviously inspired by my love of animal personalities and children. Although hand built ceramics are my first love, I am excited to take wheel throwing classes and learn some new techniques now that I will have a little extra time on my hands!
