I have been playing in clay for about 20 years. It began as a stress relief at the end of the day teaching special education. When I retired, my passion for working/creating with my hands intensified. It still amazes me that I can make something lasting and satisfying out of mere mud.

I have no singular style, as my work is eclectic and continues to evolve. I enjoy both wheel throwing and hand building, but mostly I thrive on adding whimsical decorations, such as sculpted parts (feet, faces. animals) to my pieces. Most of my work is functional and food safe. I believe pottery should be interesting to look at, pleasant to hold, and fun to use.

I am inspired by the challenge of creating pottery for a specific interest or personal event, and will take on unique commission work. I still love teaching, and currently teach Family Pottery classes (hand building) at CREATE Arts Center in Silver Spring.

Recently, my Teapot Purse won Second Place in the Handbuilding Category at the Clay Connection Conference, in Front Royal, VA.
